We’re Peter and Emily Kappen, Camarillo wedding photographers and lifelong Ventura County residents. We started photographing weddings together in 2010 and now ten years later we couldn’t picture ourselves as doing anything else. As wedding photographers we are let in on so many beautiful and intimate moments and as such end up building close relationships with the people we photograph. Many of our former couples have gone on to become great friends of ours and we are so thankful for the honor of playing a part in our client’s love stories.

Though we've photographed in many locations across the globe, we think we hit the jackpot living in Ventura County. With so much natural beauty, it’s hard to imagine a better spot to photograph people in love. From the Santa Monica mountains to the pristine beaches and the eclectic free-spirit vibes of Ojai - Ventura County has it all. It's location in Southern California also make's it super accessible to Los Angeles wedding photographers or Orange County wedding photographers who are looking explore the local beaches and mountains. Camarillo in particular, boasts a ton of unique and diverse wedding venues. Camarillo’s many historic sites as well as its pastoral landscape and mountains make it an ideal place to get hitched. Ventura county's unique geography makes it an ideal place for adventure elopement photography as there is so much natural variety. Although we absolutely love traveling and photographing weddings across the US and abroad, our hearts always rejoice when we’re back home in our own beautiful slice of this world. Even though we grew up here, it wasn’t until we started photographing that we realized just how special this place we call hoe really is. We’re so honored to be able to be creative in Ventura County and showcase its many charms through our lenses.

Engagement photography is something we are so passionate about. Through our years of photographing, we’ve seen its benefits for our couples so tangibly. How often do you get the unique opportunity of taking a break from your everyday life to simply breathe each other in and dream about your future together.  After photographing hundreds of couples, we’re here to tell you: do engagement photos if you can swing it! So many of our couples tell us that they’re nervous for their engagement shoot because they think they’re “awkward” in front of the camera. Believe us, you are not alone! We work extra hard to break the ice, get you guys comfortable, and push through the awkwardness. As photographers who’s main goal is to capture not just what you look like, but who you are, it’s super important to us that you feel comfortable when you’re in front of our lens. A lot of people ask how to prepare for engagement photos and honestly, all we have to say is show up to your shoot with a willingness to try and an understanding that it’s ok to feel a bit awkward! We promise we’ll get through it and have a blast together. Engagement photography can provide not only an intimate and meaningful space to celebrate your relationship, but it also helps you feel prepared for what to expect on your wedding day. We’ve had a lot of fun in particular with Camarillo engagement photography! There is an abundance of open space that is easily accessible, not to mention the close proximity to the nearby mountains and beaches. Living in Ventura, we are just a short drive from so many cool locations ranging from rural to urban. Making a trip down to the city and playing engagement photographer in Los Angeles for the day is always super fun. We’ve spent a lot of time shooting around the LA area and always love finding new places to explore. One of the most enjoyable parts of engagement photography is collaborating with our couples to come up with a vision for their shoot. We’ve gone along on everything from beach picnics, to sailing, flying, rock-climbing, record shopping, or even just an intimate glass of wine on a front porch. Creating an experience that is unique and inspired by our couples is always such a bonus! We offer engagement photos included in many of our wedding photography packages as well as a la carte options.
